ABOUT ME

Jordan Golding is a Chicago-based actor, musician, composer, and Jewish Viking. Hobbies include beat-boxing in Lyft rides and collecting too many sneakers.

Composing and performing original music was Jordan's initial foray into the world of performing arts, but after graduating from Oberlin College and training classically at the British American Drama Academy's London Theatre Program, the theater deities (theaterties?) pushed him to Chicago, where he is proud to call home.

In his spare time, Jordan can be found eating too many roasted vegetables, fixing broken chairs,

or memorizing literally all of Hamlet.

ACTING

Classical and Contemporary

Jordan has performed in over 25 professional theatrical productions and has acted in four film/television projects. In addition to being intimately familiar with Shakespeare's comedies and tragedies as well as countless modern classics and other new works, Jordan has extensive stage combat experience, having worked both as a stage combatant and fight captain with a multitude of weapons.

Next up: Jordan returns to Writers Theatre as Zelger in The Band's Visit!

"Unexpectedly, Golding’s Peter pauses the action for a heartfelt phone conversation with his girlfriend about his presumed failure as a writer. It’s nice. It’s real. Besides fabulous robes, LIGHT UP THE SKY’s show people deserve that level of truth."

- Susan Lieberman, Picture This Post

"Jordan Golding is great as he tells the story of his experience during the Snowpocalypse... He is very engaging and does a great job connecting with the audience, both in this story, and as a bit player in others."

- Kevin Curran, Chicago Theatre Review

"Jordan Golding captures both Orpheus' flighty, artistic nature and his fierce determination to rescue his wife with skill."

MUSIC

Composition and Performance

In addition to playing over eight instruments at an advanced proficiency level, Jordan has composed over 150 original pieces on various instruments in a multitude of genres. He composed an original score for The Winter's Tale at the Oberlin Summer Theater Festival in 2017 and did so again as Music Director for Midsommer Flight's Twelfth Night in December 2019.

"Jordan Golding is music director and creates a fine mostly string band of musicians who play folk-style and medieval songs and madrigals..."

- Nancy Bishop, Third Coast Review

"Music Director Jordan Golding layers soulful folk arrangements into the production. The acoustic accompaniments elicit a homegrown fervor that lacks pretension. Bolstering the natural wonder found in the space, the music is accessible, played with raw character and imbued with boundless energy."

"The original musical score - songs by...Jordan Golding - was out of this world..."

- Mary Crylen, Chicago Stage Standard
